Breaking my neck saved my life.

Where this all began and what you probably should know…

The first thing to know i guess is I do drop the occasional ‘f’ bomb. It’s not big, it’s not clever but it’s a part of who I am so … fuck it.

The second thing is, three years ago, with a split second decision, life as I knew it… stopped.

Slap bang in the middle of a marvellous mid-life re-invention (not crisis) upside down in an aerial hoop in a magical field in Cornwall, visions of cirque du soleil swirling round my happy delulu brain…my neck… just… snapped.

I could not move.

There was no fear, no drama, no panic. Just a slow, cold realisation that yup… id finally gone and done it. This time I had really fucked myself.

What transpired was intense surgery, three years of recovery, rehab and training, and with the luck of some witchy deity that quite frankly I don’t deserve, I now have four fully functioning limbs, an entertaining balance issue and an optimistic attitude that could piss of your Grandpa.

I am ready for the best chapter of my life!

Because you see, although those three years were tough, oftentimes lonely and with more than their fair share of crazy, they have also been the most soul-searching, liberating and transformative of my life. Because in that single moment, when my world reduced to a pin sized, survival shaped dot, i saw, with visceral clarity, how most things in life are simply ‘not that serious’.

That song you don’t sing because you sound like a dolphin? Doesn’t matter. That laugh you hide because you snort like a warthog? Who cares! Your moves are crimes on the dance floor? It’s time to risk that jail time :)

No more staying small, no more hiding your glorious you-ness. It’s time.

Life is short, days are long and we have one shot. So if you want to wear that full sequin catsuit round Tesco, do it. Fancy training to be a mermaid? I’m here for it!

Through, adventure, fashion, friendships, great conversation, tales of misadventure and a touch of toe curling mayhem, let’s take up space, live life to the full, free of shame, free of fear and embrace all the quirks, dreams and experience a live well lived has to offer.

As the Mad Hatter once said “You used to be much muchier” it’s time to be all the muchness we can handle.

This Blog will not change your life, but I hope it may light a spark that will.
